Program
This hike will bring you through the relaxing resort and energizing Blue Hills in Ogre. This town will amaze you as it is truly magnificent every season! Less than an hour away from the capital you can enjoy a wonderful hike through the Blue Hills, Dubkalnu quarry, enjoy the main part of the town center and see the 3rd longest river in Latvia. During this hike, you will enjoy freedom in nature and the coziness of the town.
What to expect from this hike? Trails will lead you through the hills of the forest where you will be able to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Blue Hills overlooking Ogre 90 meters above sea level. After a hike around the quarry where you will take in some unforgettable views, we’ll head back to the town to enjoy the coastal promenade and the bridges crossing the Ogre river. And we bet you want to know the history behind the adorable bear cub sculpture on the pedestrian street! You will find out this and much more during this adventurous hike!

When and where
The meeting point is at the Ogre train station at 10:10. The hike starts and ends at the same point. Return back to Riga around 16:00.
Transportation
You have two options – train or your own car. Train to Ogre departs at 9:31 from Riga train station and arrives in Ogre at 10:08 (1,50 € one way ticket). If you come by your own car, you can park it next to the Ogre train station.

How to dress
Please, dress accordingly to the weather forecast! Due to very changeable weather, layering is key to enjoying the hike, and rain protection is a must-have. Any comfortable shoes or sandals are good enough for this hike.
Level of dificulty
A quite easy hike with few steep climbs. Walking around the town and small footpaths through the woods.
